2023 Permian Basin Oil and Gas Compensation Survey

Overview

Whitney Smith Company has completed the 7th annual Permian Basin Oil and Gas Compensation Survey. The survey is sponsored by the Permian Basin Petroleum Association in order to bring an industry compensation survey to its members, as well as, to non-members in the Permian Basin Oil and Gas community. The survey is now available to all members and non-members. 

Each surveyed position stratifies salary by high, low, mean, median, 25th and 75th percentiles. Results are reported in aggregate, as well as by company size groups when sufficient data was collected. The 2023 survey reports annual base salary/hourly rates, annual bonus data, long-term incentives and total annual compensation for approximately 90 positions. 


The survey was completed by businesses that employ workers in an exploration and production company or oil field service company. The survey only covers employees who work in the Permian Basin, and participants with offices outside the Permian Basin only reported compensation data for their employees in the Permian Basin.
